A couple weeks ago, the south central part of our great state endured\u00a0unprecedented flooding due to a freak rain storm. As things have settled\u00a0down, relief agencies have stepped in to assess, and restoration efforts are\u00a0beginning to take shape.<\/p>\n
Two of our members, George and Jeanette Tabb, have family in some of the\u00a0worst-hit areas, and would like to take a team in late summer to Webster or\u00a0Nichols County. They have tentatively scheduled the trip for August 26\u00a0through the Labor Day weekend<\/a>. Each participant will be expected to cover\u00a0all their own expenses. If there is enough interest, we will invite the\u00a0congregation to provide some financial support.<\/p>\n An informational meeting is scheduled immediately following worship on\u00a0Sunday, July 17<\/a>, and will meet in the Sydnor-Lewis Reading Room\/Library.\u00a0Anyone interested in going or supporting this trip is invited to participate.<\/p>\n As we head into the middle of July, we are also gearing up for participation\u00a0in the annual book bag ministry, where local congregations provide school\u00a0supplies for kids in need. Obviously, the need this year extends beyond\u00a0Jefferson County.
